North-central South Dakota farmer catching up on planting
A farmer in north-central South Dakota says planting is picking up in his area.
Troy Hadrick says, “Typically, we would be quite a ways ahead of where we are right now.”
Hadrick tells Brownfield the weather has been his biggest challenge. “We didn’t have any moisture really to speak of all winter, and then from April 23rd until the middle of May we had almost six inches of rain.”
He says they are planting corn and soybeans at the same time this week. “We got two outfits running just trying to get caught up,” Hadrick said. “It’s amazing, a lot of progress can get made in a short amount of time anymore it seems like. That’s been good to see.”
Hadrick farms near Faulkton.
