Iowa farmers close corn planting gap, surpass average soybean pace

Another week of mostly favorable weather allowed Iowa farmers to creep closer to the normal planting pace.

USDA’s latest crop report says at 86 percent, corn planting is just three days behind the five-year average.  Corn emergence is near 50 percent, also three days behind normal.

Soybean planting is actually a day ahead of average at 69 percent.
