EAST LANSING — Police opened an investigation Tuesday night into a death they have deemed suspicious, East Lansing Police Capt. Chad Pride said Wednesday morning.

The city sent out a public safety advisory at 10:22 p.m. Tuesday regarding police activity near an apartment complex in the 2700 block of Marfitt Road. Pride said dispatchers had been alerted of the death by a caller.

Upon entering an unlocked apartment, Pride said, officers found a 59-year-old East Lansing woman with multiple lacerations.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, he said. Pride said police have not determined whether the death was a suicide or homicide.

Pride said the investigation is ongoing, so more information will not be released at this time. He asked anyone with information regarding the death to contact Sgt. Adam Park at 517-319-6834.
