Veteran journalist Carl Bernstein recently torched U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas for criticizing Americans opposing the Supreme Court's draft opinion in favor of overturning Roe v. Wade. Describing the controversial judge as "rogue" and "disingenuous," Bernstein also weighed in on the judge's wife, who worked tirelessly to overturn the presidential election.

Bernstein's latest remarks were in response to Thomas' speech at the 11th Circuit Judicial Conference in Atlanta last week. At the time, Thomas offered an indirect address as he scrutinized Americans for "becoming addicted to wanting particular outcomes." The Court, he said, "can't be an institution that can be bullied into giving you just the outcomes you want. The events from earlier this week are a symptom of that."

On Monday, May 9, Bernstein weighed in on Thomas' remarks during an interview on CNN.

"The wife of a Supreme Court justice doing what Ginni Thomas did is utterly unheard of in the history of the United States," Bernstein said. "Justice Thomas, talking about [the] legitimacy of institutions – either the White House or the court itself – he should recuse himself, which he refuses to do, from any case involving the president of the United States and the election."

He added, "There is a real failure of institutions, especially on the Supreme Court, by a rogue justice who would not say, 'I'm going to step aside.'"

Bernstein's remarks come just months after The New York Times released a scathing report detailing Thomas' wife, Ginni Thomas' involvement in the plot to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. At the time, her text conversations with former White House Chief of Staff, Mark Meadows, was also revealed.

"Help This Great President stand firm, Mark!!!" she reportedly texted Meadows on November 10, 2020. "You are the leader, with him, who is standing for America's constitutional governance at the precipice. The majority knows Biden and the Left is attempting the greatest Heist of our History."

Shortly after that report, Thomas was the lone objector in an election-related case where the January 6 committee was given access to documentation in reference to the Jan. 6 insurrection.
