Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has taken a role advising troubled retailer Woolworths as it explores various rescue options. The magic circle firm is understood to have reprised its role for regular client Woolworths, which last week (19 November) confirmed that it was in preliminary discussions regarding a possible offer for the retail business. Turnaround specialist Hilco is reported to have an offer on the table to buy the retail business for £1, while Woolworths is also in discussions to sell a stake in DVD business 2 Entertain to BBC Worldwide.
