Atomicon scheduled for May 14 in downtown Alamogordo

Alamogordo's cosplay event returns May 14 to downtown.

The 2022 Atomicon is organized by Alamogordo MainStreet.

It is scheduled for 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. between the 800 and 1100 blocks of New York Avenue.

The event celebrates "all things comic, gaming and fun."

The event is open to all ages and will feature food, vendors and live entertainment.

Local vendors will be accompanied by Picacho Peak's beer garden where live music by Rosewater Blues and Doso Dirtbags is scheduled.

Included in the lineup of live performances is RAD Studios dance performers, Kaias Dance Studio and El Paso Y.O.U.N.G. Ghostbusters.

An LED light show and Circus Bootcamp for children will be presented by Odd Lab.

A costume contest is open to all attendees.

At the Flickinger Center for Performing Arts a production of The Hobbit by the Children's Music Theater will be presented.
