Book’d Out [April 2022]

How was your month in books? Which book was your favorite? Did you participate in any reading events? Work on any of your reading challenges? Here’s a look at what we’ve read this month.

+ KIM +

The first 15 days of April I only managed to finish 1 book. I started and stopped several but just couldn’t stay focused. Thankfully I made up for a weak start by finishing the month strong. I took Hunt the Stars, Jessie Mihalik with me on vacation and inhaled it. I’ve discovered that sassy, space romances are my comfort reads. Because of this, it was my favorite book of the month.

Hunt the Stars

I just finished reading Finlay Donovan Is Killing It, Elle Cosimano and I loved it. What a riot this book was! A fast paced, smart, and funny read with a healthy dose of twists to keep me invested. Highly recommend! It tied for my favorite book of the month.

I also really enjoyed Six Crimson Cranes, Elizabeth Lim. It’s about a girl who is cursed by her stepmother and banished. For every word that she speaks one of her brothers will die. Her brothers have also been cursed to live their days as cranes and their nights as boys. There’s so much more to this book- snakes and dragons and princes too.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t also try to convince you to read The Cat Who Saved Books, Sosuke Natsukawa. I found this book while perusing lists of translated novels. It’s just under 200 pages long but it’s so full of thoughtful passages. I could have underlined nearly the whole book. It’s a really lovely book.

Other books I read…

  • Lore Olympus: Volume 1, Rachel Smythe ☆☆☆
  • Under the Whispering Door, T.J. Klune ☆☆☆☆
  • Six Crimson Cranes, Elizabeth Lim ☆☆☆☆☆
  • The Golden Hour, Niki Smith ☆☆☆
  • The Cat Who Saved Books, Sosuke Natsukawa ☆☆☆☆☆
