'In no way qualified': Ben Carson torched on Twitter for criticizing Biden for considering a Black woman for SCOTUS nominee
Dr. Ben Carson, who worked as the Housing Secretary under former President Donald Trump's administration, is facing backlash for his recent attempt to accuse President Joe Biden of "identity politics" for considering a Black woman nominee for the U.S. Supreme Court. T
Appearing on "The Vince Coglianese Show" WMAL radio show, Carson was asked about the impending Supreme Court vacancy following Justice Stephen Breyer's retirement announcement. Carson wasted no time reiterating his disapproval of progressive politics.
“This is America. Many people fought and gave their lives to bring equality, and now we’re reverting back to identity politics,” Carson said on Thursday, January 28, adding, “And as we continue to do that, we’re bringing more division into our country.”
Carson went on to suggest that Biden could open the door to a “detrimental” precedent by focusing on a woman of color," per HuffPost. “If he can do that, then who else can do it in the future using the criteria that they want and completely ignoring all the progress that’s been made?” he said. “It makes absolutely no sense, and I hope people will be incensed about it.”
The retired neurosurgeon and Trump enthusiast went on to describe Biden's decision as "abominable."
He continued, “We need a Supreme Court where we have the best candidates who understand the Constitution and are not trying to legislate from the bench. Things have gotten so partisan, at least on the left side. To create that kind of situation in the highest court in the land is really abominable and very detrimental to our freedoms."
It didn't take long for social media users to fire back at Carson. In fact, some users even noted that his own appointment by Trump had nothing to do with his professional resume as he lacked the qualifications for the role he was given.
"Sure, because neurosurgeon Ben Carson had so much housing & community development experience before he was HUD Secretary," one Twitter user wrote. "Any one of the women who will be on Biden's list (short and long) will be immeasurably more qualified to be on SCOTUS than Carson was for any job at HUD."
Ben Carson was given a job he was in no way qualified for because Trump’s racist-ass thought a black man was synonymous with housing projects, and Ben Carson went along with that bullshit.https://twitter.com/authorjllopez/status/1486863685087809545 …— So Sayeth Black Lord: (@So Sayeth Black Lord:) 1643355343

Ben Carson attacked Biden for "abominable identity politics" on promising to pick an African American female SCOTUS. And yet, Ben remained silent when Trump said "look at my African American over there." Ben is pulling a Larry Elder. And a Tim Scott. Yes, Ben Carson is a racist.— Uncovering The Truth (@Uncovering The Truth) 1643384160
It's admittedly weird to see a black man — even Ben Carson — slam a president for seeking to address the jarring historic whiteness of a court that is supposed to fairly address the legal issues of all Americans.https://twitter.com/AuthorJLLopez/status/1486863685087809545 …— Jeff Pearlman (@Jeff Pearlman) 1643387009
