Bath Twp. man, 70, dies after SUV strikes tree on Clark Rd. in DeWitt Twp.

DeWITT TWP. – A Bath Township man was killed Thursday morning when his sport-utility vehicle crashed into a tree.

DeWitt Township police identified the man who died as William Burns, 70.

Police said the crash happened about 10 a.m. on Clark Road, west of Chandler Road.

Burns was driving east when his 2000 GMC Yukon ran off the north side of the road, crossed through a ditch and hit a tree, officials said in a news release. He died at the scene, they said.

No one else was riding in the vehicle, and no other vehicles were involved in the crash, they said.

DeWitt Township police and fire personnel were helped at the scene by the Bath Township Fire Department and the Clinton County Sheriff's Office.
