Air Canada Aeroplan is out with another version of its regular points sale. Although there may be varying targeted offers, everyone that I’ve seen (including me) has an 80% bonus showing once they log into the site.
This makes it possible to buy Air Canada Aeroplan points for as low as 1.43 cents each if you buy at least 15,000 points. That’s just above our Reasonable Redemption Value for Aeroplan of 1.3 cents each, and well above the last couple of Aeroplan sales that we’ve seen. For most folks, it probably only makes sense to buy at this rate if you need the points for a high value redemption.
Aeroplan has been doing these sales every 2-4 weeks, so there’s little reason to buy speculatively, even given the strength of the offer. The bonus has gone to 100% or above every 3-6 months.
The Deal
- Get an 80% bonus on purchased Aeroplan points when you buy at least 15,000.
- Sale is through Points.com (so you will not earn bonus points by paying with a card that bonuses travel purchases)
- Offer ends April 5th, 2024
Best Uses for Aeroplan Points
- Add Stopovers for 5,000 miles: There's great value in the Aeroplan due to the ability to add a stopover on a one-way award for 5,000 additional miles, making it possible to combine two destinations on one award.
- Lap Infants: Lap infants are just $25 CAD or 2,500 miles per direction (far cheaper than what most programs charge).
- Travel within US and Canada: Aeroplan charges 6K to 22.5K miles each way in economy class or as low as 15K miles each way in business class within US and Canada
- Business Class to Asia and the South Pacific: Flights to Asia and South Pacific range from 55K-105K one-way in business class (plus 5K miles for a stopover), which can be a particularly good value for awards combining Asia and the South Pacific in one itinerary.
- Business Class to Africa (with a stopover in Europe): Flights to Africa can vary between from 60K to 100K in business class based on distance (add 5K miles for a stopover within Africa or Europe).
- Explore remote Canada for far less (Northwest territories for cheap!). In some cases, Air Canada only charges 12.5K miles one-way to remote stretches of Canada. See more here.

only got 100% myself. same with several other people and P2, so seems like its rare to get the highest one
What is the historical CPP cost at max discount? Hard to know what 50% discount is compared to 75% bonus. Would make the historical data much more valuable.
That’s a great point, since they oscillate between discount and bonus. I can go back and enter some of those in, there will be little bit of funny business because of changing exchange rates. the 50% discount that they just ran was 1.31cpp by comparison, way better than the 75% bonus.
Have you posted an article yet with these comparisons? Or an srticlwith the followup 95% from this promotion?
It would be useful to have the CPP in the offer history like you do with LifeMiles as that’s the easiest way to compare whether this sale is good, historically speaking.

You earn whatever the portal pays out.
Do you have personal experience using TCB for buying Aeroplan miles through their link to Points.com? What was the payout percenatge you received?
As I suspected from the start, clicking through the points.com link at TopCashBack.com will NOT earn you any cashback for purchasing Aeroplan miles.
You did not earn any cashback because Aeroplan is NOT a merchant on Topcashback. Why would they pay you for clicking through to a merchant they are NOT advertising on their website? They wouldn’t. If you clicked on the points.com link on topcashback, it CLEARLY shows which merchants they are offering cashback on. Aeroplan isn’t one of them. If you believed that they would give you cash back, then YOU are mistaken. I, along with many others have earned cashback from topcashback, or other shopping portals when they are actually advertising cashback for said merchant. You made the mistake. learn from it.
Wow, you’re a jerk. You answered my question incorrectly (obviously without even bothering to look at TCB), and now you attack me? Points.com is a TCB cashback partner and has a generic offer of 4.2% cashback for a “miles purchase” at points.com. I tried it, and it didn’t work for Aeroplan. I shared that knowledge to help others. All you did was be a jerk. Thanks for your valuable contribution.
If TopCashBack can find a reason not to pay out, they’ll find it and not tell you about it.
I compeletely agree. That is why I ONLY use TCB in cases where TCB offers cash back and no one else does. I woud rather get 1% MR back from Rakuten than 10% cash from TopCash Back becuase TCB is so unreliable when it comes to paying out cash back. Rakuten, on the other hand, will automatically credit missing cash back when you file a missing cash back claim. The difference between the two prgrams is like night and day, My advice to others is generally AVOID TCB and always use Rakuten instead.

Not sure if there might be different minimums for the May offer, but I am only seeing the maximum 110% if I buy 80,000, not 60,000
Hey Tim – just an update on the prices between North America and Canada in business class – I’ve seen fares as high as 50k points now so may be worth updating that data point.

Yep it is, and that’s just a typo. Should be be 27,750 when buy 15,000. Fixed it.
Hi, I think this statement is a little off, isn’t it?
If you buy 27,750 points (the minimum required for the 80% bonus), you’ll get a total of 108,000 points and you’ll pay $525 CAD (~$388 USD or 1.4 cents each)
It would help if you listed, in your article, what the reasonable redemption value of Aeroplan points are.
Would this stack with the 10x promo currently running on the Chase Aeroplan card for foreign transactions?
