Viterra buys worldwide grain distributor for more than $1 billion

A global agribusiness has purchased Nebraska-based grain merchandiser Gavilon.

Viterra says the acquisition will help strengthen supply chains and increase access to new export markets.

The CEO of Viterra says the merger enables them to provide flexibility for producers world-wide and enhance their sustainable supply chains.

Gavilon originates, stores and distributes grains, oilseeds, as well as feed and food ingredients, to food manufacturers, livestock producers, poultry processors, soybean processors and ethanol producers worldwide.

The transaction that’s worth more than $1 billion is expected to close in the second half of 2022.
