A cold pattern to linger across much of the Heartland

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or below-normal temperatures and precipitation across most of the country. Significantly colder-than-normal conditions will be focused across the Northeast, while warmer-than-normal weather will be limited to the northern High Plains and parts of the Southwest.

Meanwhile, wetter-than-normal conditions should be confined to portions of the central and southern High Plains and the Deep South, primarily along and near the Gulf Coast.
