The District of Columbia (D.C.) Attorney General, Karl Racine (D), just hit the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers, with a massive Lawsuit for their Role in the January 6th Insurrection, in December 2021.
This Lawsuit calls out January 6th as an Act of Domestic Terrorism, and seeks to hold those Responsible for the heinous Violence of that day, Accountable. PThis Lawsuit is one of several Actions seeking to punish those Responsible for inflicting so much Damage to both our Nation’s Capital and our Democracy.
The D.C. Attorney General is hopeful that this Lawsuit will uncover where these Right-Wing Groups get their Funding.
Racine is going after their Bank Accounts with a Civil Lawsuit. “What we’re seeking to do is hurt the men and women in the organization who plotted, planted, participated in this insurrection.”
The Lawsuit filed in Federal Court in Washington, DC, accuses 31 Members of the Groups of "conspiring to terrorize the District" on January 6, calling their Actions "a coordinated act of domestic terrorism."
Racine is asking the Court to find the Oath Keepers and Proud Boys liable for the Millions of Dollars Officials spent dispatching Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department to the Capitol, along with the enormous Expense of Treating the Injured Officers, and Paying for their Medical Leave in the months after the Attack.
