The J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel Island recently announced the winners of its annual Conservation Cartoon Contest.

It holds the contest for select Southwest Florida elementary schools in honor of namesake Jay Norwood “Ding” Darling, the Pulitzer Prize-winning political cartoonist of the early to mid-20th century.  This year, Edison Park Elementary in Fort Myers and Patriot Elementary in Cape Coral from the Lee County School District participated.

The refuge staff voted for the entries that they believed best exemplify the theme of conservation.

The winners are pictured above, and as you can see, our young ones already know how critically important it is to protect Mother Earth!
