Simon Cowell and Lauren Silverman are engaged! The couple's relationship through the years

To Simon Cowell, his long-term girlfriend Lauren Silverman has got that special "X-Factor." 

The "America's Got Talent" judge is officially engaged to Silverman, Cowell's representative confirmed to USA TODAY Tuesday.

The couple first went public with their relationship in 2013 after it was revealed they had a baby on the way, their now 7-year-old son Eric. 

During his 2018 Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, he expressed his love to his future wife, calling Silverman his "rock." 

"Lauren, you've been my rock for the past few years. Put up with everything I've put up with," he said during his acceptance speech. 

Cowell and Silverman kept most of their relationship out of the limelight as Silverman was still married to her ex-husband Andrew Silverman when news broke she was pregnant with Eric. In a March 2014 interview with The Observer, Andrew Silverman said the news of Cowell and Silverman's relationship "was a fascinating experience, unexpected and shocking.” 

People magazine reported that Silverman's divorce from Andrew Silverman became final in New York in 2013.

Cowell and Silverman welcomed baby Eric in February 2014, and the 62-year-old TV personality rejoiced in the news with a series of tweets at the time about the happy event. He said the new mom was in "great shape" and described his new son as "healthy and handsome."

The former "American Idol" judge, who is often characterized as a hard critic, was softened by the birth of his son after sharing the first photos of Eric, writing, "I never knew how much love and pride I would feel," in a now-deleted tweet.

Cowell, who was formerly engaged to Mezhgan Hussainy and called it quits in 2012. Silverman shares a 16-year-old son, Adam Silverman, with her ex-husband.
