Bonnaroo set to return in 2022 with Stevie Nicks, J. Cole, The Chicks: See the full lineup

As it plans to finally return after a two-year absence, Bonnaroo will also get back to doing what it once did best: bringing several generations of music greats together in one festival.

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Stevie Nicks, chart-topping rapper J. Cole and progressive metal mainstays Tool will headline the 2022 edition of the festival, set for June 16-19 at Great Stage Park in Manchester, Tenn.

They're followed close behind by an eclectic cast of big names, from The Chicks (formerly The Dixie Chicks) to rapper/rocker Machine Gun Kelly, the reunited duo of Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, hip-hop hitmakers Roddy Rich and 21 Savage, electronic stars Flume and Illenium, and even jazz legend Herbie Hancock.

Nicks — who continues to command big crowds as a solo artist on top of her tours with Fleetwood Mac — will become Bonnaroo's first-ever female headliner.

Other highlights include Ludacris, Billy Strings, Disclosure, Lord Huron, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Chvrches, Porter Robinson, The War On Drugs and Bleachers — whose frontman Jack Antonoff will also host this year's all-star "Superjam," dubbed "Jack Antonoff's 1984."

Bonnaroo returns after two years, multiple setbacks

If all goes according to plan, Bonnaroo 2022 will be the festival's first time back in Manchester since 2019. There have been three abandoned attempts to hold the event in the past two years.

The 2020 festival was postponed from June to September due to the pandemic, then ultimately canceled. 2021's festival was canceled just two days before it was scheduled to start — not because of coronavirus concerns, but heavy rainfall that caused "waterlogged" conditions on the grounds.

While most of 2020's performers carried over into 2021's lineup, Bonnaroo has started with a clean slate this year. Tool was previously booked in 2020, but not 2021. They're returning for the first time since headlining the festival in 2007 — the largest gap of any returning headliner in Bonnaroo history.

As they've done for years now, Bonnaroo's fan network of sleuths and insiders had predicted many of this year's performers in advance — including J. Cole, Tool and The Chicks, who shot to the top of the rumor heap a few weeks ago.

Tickets for the 2022 Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival go on sale at noon CT/1 p.m.  Thursday, January 13 at www.bonnaroo.com. Currently, only four-day passes are available, starting at $320.
