MO Governor hopeful for future Israel, Greece trade mission

Missouri Governor Mike Parson says he hopes to bring back practices to better Missouri ag production from an eventual trade mission to Israel and Greece.

Governor Mike Parson says he looks forward to eventually building relations in Israel and Greece after his trade mission was postponed due to COVID-19 related travel bans.

Parson tells Brownfield the countries have a lot to offer to Missouri agriculture.

“What’re they teaching in Israel with how do we be better stewards of the land, how do we take care of some of the problems we have with water in northern Missouri especially where that becomes a priority,” he said. “So, just to be able to go to other countries and see how they’ve went through some of those challenges and then just try to take the best practices when you go over there [and] bring it back home and [figure out] how do we implement it here.”

He said the trade mission, which would’ve included Missouri Ag Director Chris Chinn, would likely boost Missouri’s ag exports.

“The more partnerships we can build with overseas partners when it comes to agriculture products, it’s a win-win for our state, especially as big as we are in agriculture,” Parson said.

Parson spoke at Missouri Farm Bureau’s Annual Meeting.
