MU Extension in partnership to reduce feral hogs

The University of Missouri Extension is launching a new feral hog management project to help farmers and all landowners affected by the invasive animals.

Bob Pierce is the MU Extension wildlife specialist tells Brownfield Ag News, “MU Extension is partnering with the Missouri Department of Conservation and USDA APHIS Wildlife Services and we just recently hired four positions. They’re outreach coordinators located in southern Missouri.”

Pierce says specialists will work directly with landowners who allow them access.

“We now have the techniques to really reduce populations and these feral hog extension coordinators will help make that happen.”

Brownfield interviewed Pierce at the MU Crop Management Conference in Columbia.
