STEPHANIE ANGEL

Angel: We are thankful for those who share their stories with us, subscribers who read them

Stephanie Angel
Lansing State Journal

Journalists love telling stories.

Stephanie Angel is executive editor of the Lansing State Journal and USA TODAY NETWORK Mid-Michigan group.

It’s why we do what we do. The satisfaction that comes from connecting the dots for our communities fuels us through the tough interviews, the fight for access to public records and the criticism we inevitably encounter from the public.

We are encouraged by the emails, phone calls and text messages we receive thanking us for our work. We are inspired by the strength, vulnerability and transparency of everyday people who share their experiences with us, so that we can share them with you.

We have both the privilege and responsibility to tell stories from across Greater Lansing — a role Lansing State Journal journalists have been fulfilling for more than 160 years.

That’s a lot of stories. And yet there are so many more that deserve to be told. That’s why our community partnership has endured the tests of time.

The people of Greater Lansing are stronger when we understand ourselves, our history and the great stories happening among us. The LSJ plays a vital role in that understanding, through storytelling.

None of this work happens without our subscribers, who fund our storytelling mission and help us uncover the stories some don’t want us to tell.
