Takeout on Thanksgiving? Cracker Barrel, Denny's and more offer meal specials to eat at home

It's the week of Thanksgiving 2021, and while some people might be ready to feast, they might not be ready to cook. 

If you don't want to sweat over casserole dishes and a bird in the oven, these restaurants and businesses are offering Thanksgiving takeout specials big enough for all your guests. Maybe you can even trick your friends and family into thinking you did put in some effort. 

Some restaurants, who are trying to bounce back from COVID-19 restrictions, will be open for dine-in visits, while others may be closed or offer limited menus. 

This year's Thanksgiving meal is expected to cost more whether you cook it yourself or from a restaurant thanks to inflation and supply chain interruptions. 

“Restaurant inflation is at a multi-decade high," Michael Swanson, chief agricultural economist at Wells Fargo, told USA TODAY.

Restaurants offering Thanksgiving specials

The following restaurant chains and stores have select locations offering Thanksgiving specials. Some dining rooms may be closed, and many may be offering a special menu or takeout and delivery. 

Check with your closest location as ordering deadlines and availability will vary. Pickup times also can vary. Some restaurant websites do not have updated holiday hours so calling ahead is suggested.

Bob Evans Restaurants: Bob Evans restaurants are offering the Farmhouse Feasts in a variety of sizes that can serve up to 10 people. The meal features slow-roasted turkey, hickory-smoked ham, different options for sides and pies. The deadline to order is Nov. 24 and you can view more here. 

Cracker Barrel: Cracker Barrel is offering a Thanksgiving dinner that can serve 4 to 6 people and a feast that can serve 8 to 10. For more information click here. 

Denny's: Denny's is bringing back its annual Turkey & Dressing Dinner Pack that must be ordered 24 hours in advance. The orders will be available for pickup between Nov. 20 through Thanksgiving. To pre-order or find out more information click here. 

Dickey's Barbecue Pit: Dickey's is offering new items like Garlic Peppercorn Prime Rib and Bourbon Pecan Pie on its holiday menu. Customers can order and pick up items until the close of business on Nov. 24. Find out more here. 

Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar: Fleming's is offering a three-course Thanksgiving meal that starts at $49 per guest. The menu features lobster bisque and petite filet mignon. Pickups for these items are available while the restaurant is open on Thanksgiving day from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Find out more here. 

Fogo de Chao: Pre-orders for Fogo de Chão’s Thanksgiving Dinner To-Go have been available since Nov. 8. The meal is already precooked and can be reheated at home. Visit your local restaurant or click here for more information. 

IHOP: IHOP is offering a roasted turkey dinner with two sides of your choice this Thanksgiving. All IHOP locations are open on Thanksgiving Day and you can order online or call your nearest location. 

la Madeleine: la Madeleine’s Holiday Feast includes oven-roasted turkey breast, creamy wild mushroom sauce and red-skinned mashed potatoes in take-home options that feed 4-10 people. The hot-catered option can feed 8-20 people. Orders are ready for pickup or delivery within 12 hours while supplies last. Visit their website for more information here. 

Logan's Roadhouse: Logan's Roadhouse is offering a 4-pound Prime Rib or Turkey Breast meal for $99.99 this holiday season, available from Nov. 1 through Jan. 2. Logan's locations will be open on Thanksgiving Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for pickup. Guests can order online or call their nearest Logan’s.

Maggiano's: Maggiano's is offering a 3-course family style meal with a variety of options to customize your order. The carryout bundle can serve a family of 4-5 people and can be picked up on Nov. 23 and 24. Order online here. 

P.F. Chang's: P.F. Chang's is offering Peking Duck as a part of its "Celebration" menu. The menu is available for dine-in and holiday family meals for 4 and 6 people. Visit their website to order online or find the nearest location. 

Pollo Campero: Pollo Campero is offering a special on its 22-piece bundle through the end of the year. You can place an order or find more information here. 

Popeyes: The New Orleans-style chicken chain started taking preorders of its Cajun Style Turkeys Oct. 18 at participating restaurants nationwide, while supplies last. To order, customers need to call or visit their local restaurants to reserve a bird.

Publix: The grocery store chain is offering a wide variety of holiday meals that can feed 2 to 18 people. All orders must be made 48 hours in advance and can be placed online here or by calling the deli department at your local store. 

Ruth’s Chris: Monday is the last day to order Ruth's Thanksgiving at Your Table menu that features a salad, entrée, side dish and dessert. The meal is available for pick-up only on Nov. 24. Find out more here. 

Smokey Bones: Smokey Bones is offering a complete Thanksgiving Dinner for pre-order through Nov. 24. Bones will be open on Thanksgiving from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. for guests to pick up their meals. Learn more or order online here. 

The Honey Baked Ham Company: Honey Baked Ham does not have a deadline to order the Signature Ham & Turkey feast that can feed all of your family and friends. Customers can order online and pickup at a store location until Nov. 24. Click here for more information. 

Whole Foods Market: Whole Foods Market is offering a full holiday catering menu, as well as a special vegan holiday menu. The vegan meal for two is $39.99 and is available while supplies last. Customers can order until Nov. 23 and pickup will vary at different locations. Order online here.
