Josh Duggar's wife Anna announces birth of seventh kid two weeks before his child porn trial

"19 Kids and Counting" star Josh Duggar's wife Anna has announced the birth of the couple's seventh child together, two weeks before Duggar is set to go on trial for child pornography charges.

Anna shared a picture of the newborn on her Instagram Tuesday, along with the caption, "Meet little Madyson Lily Duggar!"

He and Anna have been married 13 years and share kids Mackynzie, 12; Michael, 10; Marcus, 8; Meredith, 6; Mason, 4; and Maryella, 1.

In April, Anna announced she was pregnant with a baby girl less than a week before the United States Marshals Service arrested her husband. A federal grand jury in the Western District of Arkansas indicted Duggar, alleging that in 2019 he knowingly received images of children under the age of 12. If found guilty, Duggar could face up to 20 years in prison and fines of up to $250,000 on each of the two counts.

After a three-hour hearing in May, U.S. District Judge Christy Comstock ruled that Duggar would be released to "third-party custodians" – family friends of his parents – as he awaits trial and cannot have any contact with minor children except his own kids and then only in the presence of their mother, Anna.

"I cannot in good conscience send you home," Comstock said. "There are five or six minor children in your parents' house, in your house and grandparents' house."

Duggar's attorneys – Justin Gelfand, Travis Story and Greg Payne – said in a joint statement at the time that their client pled not guilty to both charges and plans to "fight back in the courtroom."

The case is being prosecuted in part by the national initiative Project Safe Childhood, a program started in 2006 by the Department of Justice to protect children from sexual exploitation and abuse. 

The Duggar family rose to fame in the TLC show "19 Kids and Counting," which chronicled the personal lives of Arkansas parents Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar and their children. TLC canceled "19 Kids and Counting" in 2015 following a sexual abuse scandal involving Josh, the couple's eldest son, who later also admitted to a porn addiction and cheating on his wife Anna.

On June 29, TLC confirmed to USA TODAY that it will not produce additional seasons of the "19 Kids and Counting" spin-off "Counting On," which began in 2015 and featured storylines focusing on Josh's sisters and their young families. The cancellation announcement came the same day a judge ordered to postpone Duggar's trial to Nov. 30. 

In July, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar kept things positive in a "family statement" shared to their website. They did not directly acknowledge the scandal, though they reflected on sharing their story, which included "some of the most difficult and painful moments our family has ever faced."

"We are full of deep gratitude for the love shown to us and the prayers of so many who have sustained us both now and through the years," the statement added. 

Duggar was never charged after an anonymous tip spurred an investigation into his alleged fondling of five girls in 2002 and 2003. He acknowledged wrongdoing in a statement after news reports were published in 2015. His parents and two of his sisters later confirmed the actions.
