Citrix customers traditionally had to publish a virtual browser on Citrix DaaS or rely on a local browser with minimal authentication security to enable secure access to internal web and SaaS apps.

While secure, the problem is that publishing a browser with Citrix DaaS for all web and SaaS apps can be expensive, considering servers, infrastructure, and licenses.

For many apps, this is worth the cost due to security requirements. However, we see many organizations that don’t want this added overhead and frequently use a standard browser for SaaS and a VPN for internal access. This scenario works but also brings security vulnerabilities, including data leakage, malware, ransomware, and unmanaged network access.

The new Citrix Enterprise Bowser is a Chromium-based enterprise browser that, along with Citrix Secure Private Access, enables IT to deliver SaaS and web apps securely to all employees alongside Citrix DaaS virtual apps without the traditional infrastructure overhead. IT can simply configure each app with selective security policies based on user access context and device posture check, like restricting copy/paste, printing, downloads, or simply adding a watermark, as shown in the image below.

When a user launches the Citrix Workspace app and logs in, they see all their IT sanctioned apps in one place, Citrix DaaS, and their web and SaaS apps. The web and SaaS apps run natively in a local containerized Citrix Enterprise Browser. This provides excellent performance with the browser features users expect like tabs, bookmarks, and search, as well as access to internal web apps/resources without a VPN.

For IT this means they can provide secure access without a VPN and enhanced security controls across web and SaaS apps. For many organizations, it means zero trust, safe BYOD, DLP protection, restricted access, and overall managed control instead of the SaaS, web, and browser sprawl they need to deal with today. And this can be enabled with a cloud-managed service and no extra servers! This new offering can work with or without SWG/CASB/SASE systems, including Citrix Secure Internet Access or third-party zero trust network access systems.

With hybrid work and increasing cyber threats, now is good time to consider leveraging Citrix to protect your web and SaaS apps.
