Farmers warming up to biologicals

The president of a company specializing in natural nitrogen is seeing farmers warm up to biologicals.

Nolan Berg with Azotic tells Brownfield there’s a diverse group of crop production and protection tools derived from natural materials.

“I think biologicals in general have gone from out of the lab and onto the farm, and consistency has always been important, but I think the products that are rising to the top are the ones that are consistent.”

He says Azotic’s Envita nitrogen-fixing product is in high demand as farmers prepare for higher input costs in 2022.

“And that’s even if a guy can get all the nitrogen and all the fertility they’re looking for, because there’s the supply chain issues. It’s a complicated (and) difficult year for sure coming up.”

Berg says Envita can provide 25 percent of a corn crop’s fertility needs and comes with a guarantee.  He adds while the company is “in great shape” with supplies for next year, Berg encourages growers to get their orders in sooner than later.
