300 early votes cast in Lincoln County

In Lincoln County 300 voters had utilized early voting to cast their ballots in the 2021 local election, according to data from the New Mexico Secretary of State.

Republicans led the way in the County with 172 ballots cast as of Oct. 26. Lincoln County Democrats cast 93 ballots in that period, 32 voters declined to state their party affiliation, two voters identified as liberals and one voter as "other."

Statewide, 210,208 votes were cast in counties with local elections, though Democrat voters outpaced republicans casting 71,636 votes to Republican 39,162. Over 6,800 voters declined to state a party affiliation, while 300 identified at Libertarians and 223 identified as "other."

New Mexico Secretary of State data showed only 14 voters utilized same day registration when voting. 

In Lincoln County, 86 voters requested absentee ballots, according to data from the New Mexico Secretary of State.

Forty-nine of those requests were from Republicans, 27 from Democrats and 10 from voters who declined to state their party affiliation.

Statewide absentee ballot requests numbered 24,341 with a majority of request made by Democrat voters.

The Village of Ruidoso opted-out from the House Bill 407 which consolidated local elections in New Mexico. There are no local administrative positions on the ballot this year, though the Ruidoso School Board does have three open seats up for election on Nov. 2.

The Village of Capitan, Carrizozo, Village of Corona and Hondo are all holding local elections ranging from mayor to council seats and local school board positions.
