Tennessee crops: 44% soybeans and 25% cotton harvested

Tennessee farmers took advantage of decent weather and field conditions to make some harvest progress this past week. 

According to the USDA, corn is 86% harvested.  Twenty-five percent of the cotton crop has been harvested and 89% of bolls opened.  Soybean harvest continues to run behind the average pace with 44% of the crop has been harvested.  

Winter wheat is 49% planted with 28% of the crop emerged.

Pasture conditions are rated 68% rated good to excellent.

Topsoil moisture is 90% and subsoil moisture is 86% adequate to surplus.
