USDA strengthens efforts to cut Salmonella in poultry

The USDA is enhancing efforts to reduce Salmonella cases related to poultry as part of its overall goal to cut 25 percent of illnesses by 2030.

Each year more than one million consumers contract Salmonella with nearly a quarter related to chicken and turkey consumption.

USDA plans to work with stakeholders and create pilot projects on control strategies within slaughter and processing facilities, while an advisory committee will consider research to improve its control efforts.
