[unpaid/sample] I’m holding off on the C word gifting, aside from advents, as much as I can although my desk is getting increasingly weighed down by gorgeous sets and ideas. It’s harder this year as everyone has gone even earlier than usual so I expect I’ll cave just so I’m not blanket bombarding you throughout November and December. Ruby Hammer’s new face brush is the kind of tool you can be open to at any time of year – I think face brushes are the things I use the very most, whether its for highlight, foundation or liquid blush, so I welcome in new ones like long lost family! It’s also the perfect girlfriend gifting – I could get a lot ticked off with this… just saying.

Ruby Hammer Face Brush

The face brush is really glamorous – about as fancy as you can make such a utilitarian piece and has its own red velvet pouch to live in once it’s out of the box. Of course, it’s 100% cruelty free with components sustainably sourced.

You’ll notice that it’s slightly tapered towards the end, which allows for precision application over cheek bones. That matters because applying highlighter with a wider brush means it kind of goes everywhere and not the optimum place. It’s a much more controlled way of applying, and now that we are not doing the high-beam-see-me-from-the-moon look any more, more suited to a subtle, less is more theme.

The bristles are very, very soft and have a decent pick up ability – just right to hit the cheekbones with a little light. I’ve got some new pearlised blushes (coming soon) and it’s worked very nicely in application – too much pearl and you have to start again really because it’s impossible to pare back once on so controlled application is really important there, too. The other thing about Ruby’s brush is that it looks cold but feels warm! It’s £34 HERE.
