Tennessee crops: 15% cotton and 31% soybeans harvested

Tennessee farmers were able to make some harvest progress this week.

According to the USDA, corn is 78% harvested.  Fifteen percent of the cotton crop has been harvested and 85% of bolls opening.  Soybean harvest is slightly behind the average with 31% of the crop cut and 87% of the crop is dropping leaves.   Ninety-four percent of tobacco has been cut. 

Pasture conditions are rated 68% rated good to excellent.

Topsoil moisture is 97% and subsoil moisture is 92% adequate to surplus.
