Former Alamogordo City Commissioner Jason Baldwin recently got married and moved out of District 1 leaving his seat vacant for the foreseeable future.

"I just wanted to say, first, thanks to the voters that elected me to the position for District 1," Baldwin said at the regular Alamogordo City Commission meeting Oct. 12. "I had no experience, just an interest in helping out."

Baldwin served District 1 since 2012. He lived in District 1 since about 1994, he said at the meeting.

Then-Alamogordo Mayor Pro Tem Jason Baldwin at the Alamogordo City Commission regular meeting June 25, 2019.

Baldwin resigned his seat due to his moving out of his district.

The process to appoint a District 1 City Commissioner includes a resolution declaring a vacancy on the city commission, which was approved at the regular Alamogordo City Commission meeting Oct. 12.

Now the City Commission must fill the vacant position at its Nov. 30 meeting, 30 days from the passage of the resolution.
