Computing Community Consortium Blog

The goal of the Computing Community Consortium (CCC) is to catalyze the computing research community to debate longer range, more audacious research challenges; to build consensus around research visions; to evolve the most promising visions toward clearly defined initiatives; and to work with the funding organizations to move challenges and visions toward funding initiatives. The purpose of this blog is to provide a more immediate, online mechanism for dissemination of visioning concepts and community discussion/debate about them.

NSF logoThe following is a message from National Science Foundation (NSF) Software and Hardware Foundations (SHF) Program Directors Nina Amla, Anindya Banerjee, and Sol Greenspan.

Dear Colleagues,

Here are a few important program announcements from the Software and Hardware Foundations (SHF) program.

The new CISE Core solicitation for Small and Medium Core projects has been released. This new solicitation (NSF 21-616) should be used for all new submissions to the SHF Core program. Please see the solicitation for more details here.

A few important things to note in this new solicitation:

  • Medium projects still have a deadline – this is now the window of December 1 – December 22, 2021
  • Small projects continue to have no deadline
  • The maximum budget for Small projects has increased to $600,000
  • Note the CISE Cores limit submissions by any individual during any contiguous 12-month period.
  • A new Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for CISE Broadening Participation in Computing (BPC) PILOT has been released here. – PIs submitting Medium proposals may find this useful.
  • Fastlane is no longer supported as a submission option! Please use research.gov or grants.gov, and plan on starting early on your submission to make sure that all the differences don’t cause problems.
  • Note that the new PAPPG is active starting October 4th. As always, please read the PAPPG carefully. The main changes have to do with supplementary documentation, and will be enforced by Research.gov. (You can use the current PAPPG for submissions before Oct 4)

The new Principles and Practice of Scalable Systems (PPoSS) has been released: Please see the solicitation for more details here.

  • Deadline: January 24, 2022 (Planning grants and LARGE grants)

Formal Methods in the Field (FMitF): Please see the solicitation for more details here.

  • Deadline: February 15, 2022

Regards,
