The annual Bras for a Cause to benefit the Cumberland Valley Breast Care Alliance is underway in Franklin County.

Community volunteers are asking for donations of new or gently used bras, which will be donated to Waynesboro Community and Human Services.

Financial donations to the alliance are also in need. All funds raised will be used locally to assist patients undergoing treatment for breast cancer that live in Franklin County.

Denise Esser, director of WCHS, shared the impact the donation has on the organization. "It's been a very generous offering each year. It's a blessing to be able to share with our clients," Esser said. "This donation lasts us almost all year; we're really appreciative of all that they do."

If you would like to support the cause, bras can be donated at various locations throughout the Franklin County area including the Waynesboro YMCA, Savage Family Pharmacy, New Reflections Hair Salon, Stampin’s Up with Jody Brechbill, Duffield, PA, Here’s Looking at You in Chambersburg PA,  Park Ave. Pharmacy in Chambersburg, Zeger Dental Clinic in Greencastle, and Carl’s Drug Store in Greencastle.

Waynesboro Community and Human Services is located on Walnut Street in Waynesboro.

The bras will be delivered to WCHS the first week of November.

"One year we had an entire truck full of of bras that we donated," said Rhonda McFarland co-chair of the event. “You could pledge to match up to a given amount depending on the number of bras donated. For example, a donation of $50 for 50 bras donated. Last year we collected over 1,000 bras. Once the bras are collected, they will be donated to the Waynesboro Community and Human Services, Walnut St., Waynesboro, PA to be distributed in women in need."
