Josh Gordon to sign with Kansas City Chiefs after recent reinstatement from NFL suspension

The Kansas City Chiefs aren't standing pat as they look to find a spark after a 1-2 start.

Recently reinstated wide receiver Josh Gordon plans to sign with the team, his agents confirmed to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Gordon is expected to sign to the practice squad and be promoted soon after, Schefter reported.

Gordon, 30, has been suspended six times by the NFL in his career, including five under the league's substance-abuse policy. After being banned indefinitely in December 2019, he was granted conditional reinstatement last December as a member of the Seattle Seahawks. The NFL, however, rescinded it in January.

The NFL reinstated Gordon last week, his agents told ESPN.

Gordon last played in 2019 for the Seahawks and New England Patriots.

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Josh Gordon (10) runs against the San Francisco 49ers during the first half of an NFL football game in Santa Clara, Calif., Monday, Nov. 11, 2019.

The Chiefs sank to 1-2 on Sunday after committing four turnovers in a 30-24 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. Kansas City has struggled to find a proper No. 2 receiver to complement All-Pro Tyreek Hill. The speedy target and All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce have combined to account for 556 of the Chiefs' 940 receiving yards this year, while Mecole Hardman, Demarcus Robinson and Byron Pringle have operated as part of a rotation.

The Chiefs face the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
