Early voting begins Oct. 5 in local elections

Early voting for the Nov. 2 local elections begins Oct. 5 and ends Oct. 29. Absentee voting by mail also begins Oct. 5.

The last day to request an absentee ballot is Oct. 19.

Absentee voting in person runs from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday Oct. 5 through Oct. 29 at the Otero County Administration Building, 1101 New York Avenue.

Additional absentee in-person voting at the Otero County Administration Building is 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30.

Oct. 5 is also the last day to register to vote in the Nov. 2 local elections.

Early voting locations are:

  • The Otero County Fairgrounds from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays Oct.16 through Oct. 30
  • Inn of the Mountain Gods, 2878 Carrizozo Canyon in Mescalero, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Oct. 27 Through Oct. 29
  • Chaparral Community Center, 420 Ace Ryan Street in Chaparral, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Oct. 29 and Oct. 30.

Mobile Voting locations are:

  • Tularosa Public Safety Facility, 609 St. Francis Drive in Tularosa, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Oct. 16
  • Cloudcroft Village Council Chambers, 201 Burro Avenue in Cloudcroft, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Oct. 23

On Election Day, Otero County offers Voter Convenience Centers including Sgt. Willie Estrada Memorial Civic Center in Alamogordo, Tays Special Events Center in Alamogordo, Otero County Fairgrounds, Tularosa Public Safety Facility Courtroom, Chaparral Community Center, La Luz Elementary School, Mescalero Community Center, Cloudcroft Council Chambers, James Canyon Fire Station, Mayhill Community Center, weed Fire Station and more.

Voter Convenience Centers are open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Election Day Nov. 2.
