The York-Adams league lost a pair of games Friday night because of COVID, but it gained a major college coach for a half.

Games at York Catholic and York High, against Biglerville and Spring Grove, respectively, were officially postponed. Officials are hoping to make up both games.

James Franklin watched as his Penn State recruit, Beau Pribula, threw four touchdown passes in the first half of Central York's win over Dover.

It was a good night for players to score or throw for at least three touchdowns, in addition to Pribula. Among the multiples: Landen Eckert with three for Delone Catholic, Cody Furman with three for Gettysburg and Steven Lukes with four for Kennard-Dale on runs of 52, 61 and 69 yards and a 24-yard TD reception.

Week 5 York/Adams results

Fairfield 14, Bermudian Springs 13: The Knights used a two-point conversion stop by Peyton Stadler and Dominic Smitely to preserve a one-point victory over Bermudian Springs for the program's first win against the Eagles in 18 tries. Using Andrew Koons' 53-yard catch-and-run, Fairfield scored first against Bermudian for the second straight year. This time, they followed through, with Cody Valentine's 5-yard touchdown run with 1:14 left in the first half proving to be the winning score. Fairfield's defense made that score stand up by holding Bermudian's offense to 234 yards a week after the Eagles galloped for 615 yards against Hanover. Brennan Schisler and Ricky Pacana scored touchdowns for Bermudian.

Gettysburg 28, Susquehannock 14: The Gettysburg faithful left Warrior Stadium happy Friday night as the home team kicked off homecoming weekend with a win. What began as a defensive battle opened up in the second quarter with a pair of long Gettysburg drives that ate up clock and ended in two touchdowns. Susquehannock would respond in the second half with a couple of touchdowns of their own but each time the host Warriors were able to respond, including a methodical pounding drive in the fourth quarter that was capped by junior running back Cody Furman’s third touchdown of the night, it left little time for the visiting Warriors to respond. Furman finished with 108 yards on 22 carries and three touchdowns while being complemented by teammate senior Chris Boone who finished with 50 yards on nine carries and a touchdown of his own. Boone also had two huge sacks on Susquehannock's final drive to shut the door on a comeback. Susquehannock was led by freshman quarterback Josh Pecunes who finished with 99 yards on seven completions and two touchdowns. Junior tight end Josh Franklin made three huge catches for 49 yards and a touchdown for the visiting Warriors.

Hanover 48, York County Tech 24: The scoring started quickly as Hanover's Joey Wilkinson took the opening kick and scored from 75 yards out. On the next drive, Tech answered with a 1-yard quarterback keeper by King Zion Matai and a two-point conversion to take the lead. The back-and-forth scoring continued throughout the first half with the Nighthawks taking a 20-16 lead into the second half. Hanover's Chase Roberts connected for TD throws to Wilkinson (18 yard) and Bryan Karst (80 yards), and in the third quarter, Wilkinson grabbed a nifty 78-yard catch-and-run to set up a 1-yard scamper by Zion Heath into the end zone.

New Oxford 31, Eastern York 0: Eastern York had its best drive of the day on its opening drive which resulted in a grand total of zero points and from then on it was all Colonials. New Oxford intercepted two passes of Eastern York quarterback Austin Billett and never really allowed their offense to get into a rhythm. New Oxford's Evan Schriver had a nice game as he hauled in two touchdown passes that were 11 and 7 yards respectively. New Oxford ran for 130 yards with their stable of backs and quarterback Jett Moore threw for 120 yards.

South Western 42, Red Lion 35: South Western held a two-touchdown lead at halftime, but Red Lion came roaring back in the second half. The Lions pulled to within seven points in the third quarter and scored early in the fourth on a Riley Knaub keeper to pull even. Red Lion took its first lead on a long touchdown pass, but the lead was short-lived when the Mustangs ripped off a game-tying run of more than 80 yards. South Western took the lead for good on a touchdown with under two minutes to play.
