NORTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. — Our team will join Dr. George Hamilton from Rutgers University as well as Emelie Swackhamer and Amy K. Korman, Ph.D from Penn State Extension to discuss the Spotted Lanternfly and how we can best manage the infestation by this invasive nuisance insect. We will discuss host plant species, SLF lifecycle and recommended control methods with Penn State educators who have been on the frontline of the infestation.

Bill Hlubik is an Agricultural Agent and Professor with Rutgers Cooperative Extension, NJAES, Rutgers, the State University. He teaches Sustainable Agriculture and Starting a Small Farm classes for the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences and has been farming with his family for over 35 years. william.hlubik@rutgers.edu
Georoge Hamilton is a Rutgers Specialist in Pest Management Dr. George Hamilton’s research interests are in the area of implementing integrated pest management programs and the examination of pesticide usage patterns in New Jersey.
Emelie Swackhamer is a Horticulture Extension Educator at the Montgomery County Extension office. She holds a B.S. degree in Plant Science from The Pennsylvania State University and a M.S. in Plant Pathology from the North Carolina State University. She has been on the educational front line of the spotted lanternfly invasion since its discovery in 2014 and is participating in several research projects to learn more about this invasive insect.
Amy K Korman holds a B.S. in biology from Juniata College and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in entomology from North Dakota State University and Louisiana State University, respectively. Her responsibilities include providing research-based solutions for landscape problems such as weeds, pests, and diseases.
