A Lower Windsor Township man died Sunday at WellSpan York Hospital, 20 days after a fall at the Yorktowne Hotel, the York County Coroner's Office said.

In a news release issued Tuesday night, the coroner said an autopsy showed that 34-year-old Cody Wilson died of blunt force injuries to the head and ruled his death accidental.

Wilson and a coworker from Caretti Inc. of Camp Hill reportedly fell approximately 50 feet to the ground when their scaffolding collapsed just before 2 p.m. on Aug. 31. He was part of a crew working on the renovations at the Yorktowne Hotel, which is slated to reopen in summer 2022.

The coroner's release said Wilson suffered significant injuries to his head, back and left lower extremity. He underwent numerous surgeries and other life-saving measures, but died just after 7:30 a.m. Sunday.

There was no word on the condition of Wilson's coworker.

York City police and OSHA are investigating the incident.

The Yorktowne Hotel is undergoing a massive renovation. It closed on Nov. 6, 2016, and renovations began in 2018.
