Former Marquette University star Natisha Hiedeman, whose Connecticut Sun happen to own the best record in the WNBA, isn't just finding chemistry on the court.

She's also just gotten engaged to teammate Jasmine Thomas, news Thomas posted Wednesday to Instagram.

"I'm so excited for forever with the love of my life!" Thomas wrote on Instagram with a picture of Hiedeman down on one knee. "you make me happier than I ever knew I could be. I'm grateful for you and beyond lucky that you're mine. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!"

The team celebrated with champagne on the heels of a franchise-record 13th consecutive win Wednesday.

Hiedeman, who played at Green Bay Southwest before becoming the first MU alumna to play in the WNBA, averages 7.3 points per game this season for the Sun in 20 minutes per game. The Sun (25-6) wrap up the season Sunday but have already clinched the top seed for the forthcoming WNBA playoffs, which begin Sept. 23.

The point guard Thomas is one of the team's starters and averages a team-best 4.1 assists per game, along with 10.7 points per contest. Hiedeman has frequently been the top option off the bench.

The Sun have never won a WNBA title but have enjoyed success since Hiedeman arrived in 2019, with a trip to the WNBA Finals (and 3-2 loss to Washington) in 2019 followed by a loss in the semifinals in last year's 2020 season, abbreviated by COVID-19 and played in Bradenton, Florida.

They won't be the first active WNBA players to marry; in 2019, Chicago Sky teammates Courtney Vandersloot and Allie Quigley tied the knot. That made them the WNBA's second married couple overall; DeWanna Bonner and Candice Dupree were Phoenix Mercury teammates for years and married in 2016, after which Dupree joined the Indiana Fever.
