[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Just as I was thinking it’s been a long time since I’ve seen any nice hand creams, along comes this newness from L’Occitane. One of the products that I’m most fond of from this brand is the Overnight Reset Oil-In-Serum from the Immortelle range (which has recently been reformulated to contain more Immortelle in the form of sap-like extrac. In fact, it’s one of the few products that sits on my bedside table to use as and when – while it does have a cumulative effect and that’s the best way to use it, it’s also one of the rare wonders that works overnight by giving your skin the perks by morning. So, I’m very happy to see a similar format for hand cream and can say that by morning, hands have the perks, too.

In the same way that the face version gives a bit of a revitalizing effect, so does the hand cream. You certainly don’t have to use it at night but application then does give it uninterrupted time to do its job. I think a large part of the revitalizing comes down to flower acids that give the old cells you don’t want no time to say goodbye, while shea and immortelle oil do the hydrating work.

I think the purpose of a serum-in-anything is to give more concentration to the product – this actually takes the sensible approach of telling you on the packaging that you need to give it 28 days to see the full effects (and obviously, I haven’t done that yet). The smell is light and cheery – sort of citrus floral but not overpowering. Actually, the box it came in had a mysterious label sellotaped on it that said ‘Empty VM Prop’ – very exciting and I spent quite some time trying to think which celebrity has the initials VM because clearly they needed the prop box for a lavish ad campaign. In the end, Google solved the mystery – it’s Visual Merchandising and therefore very unexciting being destined for a shop window or display. I love an unintended arrival – the best was being sent the figures for a supposedly best selling fragrance that a brand could not shift for love nor money. I’ll be discreet on that one, and the brand that sent their (huge) shop displays out to bloggers and the bloggers’ samples out to the stores. I quite liked having a full size empty make up stand in my house for a while. Anyway, back to the hand cream – lovely… a can’t-go-wrong if you like something fancy for your hands.
