This year, we have seen organizations everywhere shift to a hybrid approach to work, adopting new ways to streamline communications and workflows so their people can be productive and have a great employee experience. Citrix Workspace continues to evolve, making daily tasks seamless to manage and enabling teams to perform their best work.

Distributed workforces are likely to encounter gaps in connection and collaboration. At Citrix, we are focusing on delivering tools to help organizations and individuals be more productive, no matter the device, location, or time. We work continually to evolve our current capabilities and to develop new ones. We want to ensure that customers have the most reliable and frictionless experiences possible, repeatedly.

Recently, our teams have added new features and solutions associated with some of our most popular services. These are designed to improve the hybrid experience. Let’s dive in and take a closer look at what’s new with Citrix Workspace for August.

Digitized Paper-Based Processes for End Users

Manual, paper-based processes can affect the productivity of any organization. Switching to a digital platform is ideal for boosting efficiency. According to Forbes Insights, “Businesses achieve 70 percent to 80 percent efficiency improvements after removing manual processes.” An example of this might be adopting digital technologies like e-signature solutions. Think of a seemingly simple workflow: submitting an invoice for signature. This can require supporting documents like timesheets or proof of product to add to the agreement. Using the Citrix Workspace integrated electronic signature capability, Citrix RightSignature, you can improve productivity and the workflow experience for end users and clients. Citrix RightSignature now enables document preparers to merge files into one document and send a single signature certificate request. Any supported file types can be combined and sent with RightSignature.

Users can customize the new file’s name, and the signed document is saved back to the original Citrix ShareFile folder. It’s easy for signers to access, organize, and sign a single file, and they also have the ability to “save and come back later” or download signed files for their records. Check out this blog post for more on our electronic signature capabilities.

Now that we’ve covered how and why digitizing paper-based processes can increase efficacy, let’s look at the latest updates to the Citrix Workspace app.

The Latest on Citrix Workspace App

Recently, we have introduced new capabilities for each of our Citrix Workspace app clients — from enhanced security features to improved support for conference calls.

Citrix Workspace app for Windows: We introduced a preview for enhanced ICA file security capabilities that help organizations reduce the attack surface. Additionally, the latest release of Citrix Workspace app for Windows contains multiple previews, including inactivity timeout for idle sessions. Support for Windows Hello, FIDO2-based authentication, and Single Sign-On (SSO) to Citrix Workspace app from Microsoft Azure Active Directory-joined machines with AAD as identity provider are also in preview. Learn more in our product documentation.

Citrix Workspace app for Mac: The most recent release of Citrix Workspace app for Mac supports Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) discovery in Enlightened Data Transport (EDT). This capability provides an improved user experience by increasing the reliability and compatibility of the EDT protocol. Additionally, admins now have the ability to auto-tune MTU settings on a per-user basis and save time when configuring optimal user settings.

Citrix Workspace app for Linux: In the latest Citrix Workspace app or Linux release, we introduced browser content redirection (BCR) with Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF). This capability enables content to be redirected from the ICA session to the endpoint for better performance and playback on multimedia. Additionally, we introduced the battery status indicator feature, which helps users see how much power remains on the endpoint they’re using from within the virtual desktop session.

Citrix Workspace app for HTML5: Improved capabilities for the generic client input method editor (IME) in the Citrix Workspace app for HTML5 have been added. This new functionality is indispensable for Citrix customers who want to type in their own language, especially when the input language is Chinese, Japanese, or Korean.

Citrix Workspace app for iOS: Citrix announced audio and webcam redirection support for Citrix Workspace app for iOS. This process allows end users to get the most out of conferencing and VoIP software by leveraging the client device’s built-in mic and camera within a remote desktop or published application.

Get Caught Up with Citrix Analytics for Security

The past few months have brought several exciting releases for Citrix Analytics for Security. To start, geofencing is now generally available. With this new capability, security practitioners and admins can create geofences — virtual perimeters — around the locations of their known users. When this capability is active, it implicitly denies all access requests originating from outside the geofence. For organizations focused on preventing account compromise, geofencing provides a layer of defense against common password-based attacks.

The following table describes the various preconfigured custom risk indicators for geofencing.

Lastly, we have added a new automated policy to give security teams’ greater control over potential insider threats. Excessive file sharing may signal that an insider is exfiltrating data from inside the organization, leading to data loss. When Citrix Analytics for Security detects excessive file sharing from an account, it can automatically convert all shared links from that account to “view only.” This action prevents downloading, copying, or printing the files associated with the share links. It protects corporate data.
