Some counties in central Pennsylvania are under a flash flood watch today as slow-moving thunderstorms move through the area.

Dauphin, Lebanon, Lancaster and York counties are included in the alert, according to the National Weather Service. It is in effect through late tonight.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected into the evening, meteorologist Greg DeVoir said.

Strong storms were also possible in Adams and parts of Franklin countiestoo.

The atmosphere is "pretty juicy," and some local areas could see a high rainfall rate, which would result in flooding, he said.

Some areas in central Pennsylvania recently received a lot of rain from tropical systems.

A flash flood watch is in effect for parts of central Pennsylvania today as slow-moving storms are predicted.

Tropical Depression Fred dumped nearly 5 inches of rain in parts of central Pennsylvania last week. It produced a tornado and resulted in 24 water rescues in York County.

The Hardee's at Route 30 and North George Street in Manchester Township remains closed after a sinkhole damaged the drive-thru during the heavy rain.

Report storm damage

The York County Office of Emergency Management is encouraging anyone who suffered damage from the recent tropical storms to report it, according to spokesman Ted Czech.

Residents can fill out the individual damage reporting form, which is available at yorkcountypa.gov

Officials are still assessing the damage, and if a certain threshold is met, it could lead to an opportunity for grants and loans, he said.
