Laura Prepon reveals she stopped practicing Scientology: 'It's no longer part of my life'

Laura Prepon has revealed she is no longer a practicing Scientologist.

The "Orange is the New Black" and "That '70s Show" star, 41, opened up in an interview with People published Tuesday about her life since becoming a mother as well as how her relationship with the Church of Scientology has changed.

"I'm no longer practicing Scientology," Prepon told the outlet. "I've always been very open-minded, even since I was a child. I was raised Catholic and Jewish. I've prayed in churches, meditated in temples. I've studied Chinese meridian theory. I haven't practiced Scientology in close to five years and it's no longer part of my life."

Prepon said she and her husband, fellow actor Ben Foster, 40, regularly meditate together. Foster, with whom she shares two kids, has never practiced Scientology, according to People.

"We meditate daily and I'm really liking it," Prepon said, "because it's something that helps me to hear my own voice and it's something we can do together."

Foster, who starred in the Oscar-nominated 2016 film "Hell or High Water," and Prepon tied the knot in June 2018 after welcoming their daughter Ella in August 2017. In October 2019, Prepon announced she was pregnant with the couple's second child, a boy.

The actress also opened up about parenthood.

"When I had my second child I thought, how am I ever going to love a child as much as I love my first?" she told the magazine. "Then you do and it's this overwhelming sense of love. It's incredible how that happens."

She added that welcoming her two children led her to reflect on her own childhood.

"As a brand new mother, I was reflecting so much on my own upbringing and the way I was mothered," she said. "I was forced to look at a lot of things in my life that I wasn't looking at before."
