U.S. beef, pork exports boost domestic grain prices

The U.S. Meat Export Federation says U.S. beef and pork exports brought ‘critical’ returns to corn and soybean farmers last year.

A study by World Perspectives Incorporated that was released by USMEF says red meat exports added 41 cents per bushel to corn value and $1.06 per bushel for soybeans.

The federation says U.S. pork exports used more than 103 million tons of soybean meal and beef and pork exports consumed more than 530 million bushels of corn. The study says exported pigs and cattle contributed more than 10 percent of U.S. corn and soybeans’ 2020 average annual price.
