HELM Agro and Alltech Crop Science partner to offer crop input solutions

HELM Agro and Alltech Crop Science are partnering to provide growers various crop input solutions.

David Schumacher is the president and CEO of HELM Agro U.S.

“Our portfolio has predominantly been synthetic-type crop protection products, but biologicals have opened the door to bring in new additional modes of action,” he says. “We’re really looking at this partnership to bridge the gap between traditional and biological solutions and to get that top result for the farmer…we want to partner with the industry to identify those solutions and fit that customer need.”

Brian Springer, national technical agronomist with Alltech Crop Science, says the partnership will allow each of the companies to focus on their strengths.

“HELM will sell and distribute the Alltech Crop Science line of products in the U.S. and focus on the field-forward components,” he says. “Alltech Crop Science will continue to do the manufacturing and focus on the science and product development.”

And, he tells Brownfield science and innovation will help growers realize their crop’s genetic potential.

“This technology is about taking what we know – and that is if you improve the good bugs in your soil, they in turn will help fight against some of those bad bugs which can be any number of different diseases we’re trying to fight anyway,” he says. “It’s not always about the live bug and trying to inoculate. If they can see this technology as making it more convenient to get it across more acres, that’s going to be the biggest thing because it’s finally something you can put in a spray tank and go and put out.”

Aaron Locker, vice president of sales with HELM Agro US, says the partnership will help unlock that potential.

“Our partnership has helped us take that to the next level by unlocking genetic potential through soil health and plant health and to be able to make sure that crop that has the genetic potential to grow 500 bushels, can maximize that potential in the grower’s field.”

HELM Agro Northern Sales Agronomist Brock Waggoner says the partnership will also help meet sustainability goals.

“The Alltech portfolio helps bring another level of the ability to be sustainable and have renewable resources and then at the same time bring new innovation much quicker than we have in the traditional aspect with the traditional chemistry that the biologicals offer,” he says.
