U.S. ethanol export sales up in June

U.S. ethanol exports shot higher in June.

The Renewable Fuels Association says ethanol exports of 81.9 million gallons were up 16% from May, with Canada, South Korea, and Peru taking the top spots. There were no reported sales to Brazil or China.

June was the first month this year with any substantial imports, most of that undenatured ethanol from Brazil.

Exports of distillers dried grains with solubles were down 10% on the month at 939,177 tons, with sales to Mexico declining, but still accounting for about a quarter of the total. Mexico has been the biggest buyer of U.S. DDGS for nine months in a row.

For the year to date, ethanol exports are 7% behind 2020’s pace at 664.2 million gallons, while DDGS exports are 10% ahead of a year ago at 54.2 million tons.
