Ag appropriations bill advances to full Senate

The Senate appropriations bill that would fund USDA and the Food and Drug Administration has taken two steps forward this week.  Ag Appropriations Subcommittee Chair Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin says her subcommittee approved the bill early this week and, “The bill has been advanced through the full Appropriations Committee. We obviously have to figure out a path forward on the floor for consideration of this and many other appropriations bills, but I’m very excited to have at least surmounted that hurdle.”

Baldwin tells Brownfield it is unclear when the full Senate will vote on the bill but she expects it to happen after the August recess.

Baldwin says the funding bill includes opportunities for farmers to invest in the long-term health of working lands, broadband expansion, and tools to help with nutrition, health, and housing security.
