Tennessee crops: soybeans 79% and cotton 68% rated good to excellent

Timely rainfalls across parts of Tennessee continue to help crop development, while other parts of the state are still in need of some precipitation, and crop conditions reflect that. 

Corn is 95% silking with 64% in the dough stage and 84% rated good to excellent.  Cotton is catching up to the average pace with 87% is squaring and 51% is setting bolls, 68% of the crop is rated good to excellent.  Soybeans are 76% blooming, 50% setting pods, with 79% rated good to excellent.  Tobacco is rated 67% good to excellent with 67% of the crop topped.  Tomato harvest is underway as producers are facing insect pressure. 

Pasture conditions improved and are rated 63% good to excellent. Topsoil moisture is 79% and subsoil moisture is 79% adequate to surplus.
