79% of Michigan corn, 72% of soybeans rated good to excellent

The USDA says growing conditions remained adequate last week in Michigan.

Winter wheat harvest approached completion ahead of the one-year and five-year average.

Corn condition deteriorated slightly with 79 percent of the crop rated in good to excellent condition. Ninety-one percent of corn is silking, and 19 percent is in the dough stage.

Soybeans held steady with 72 of the crop being rated good to excellent. Ninety-two percent of soybeans are blooming, and 71 percent are setting pods.
