Honey bee colonies up 2%

The USDA reports honey bee colonies increase two-percent for operations with at least five colonies between January 1st of LAST year and the start of 2021.

Colonies lost with Colony Collapse disorder symptoms were down 27% from the year before.

The top stressor for all colonies of five or more were Varroa mites. More than 55% of those colonies were affected between last July, August and September which was the peak last year.
