House leaders urge vote on bipartisan broadband funding

The leaders of the U.S. House Ag Committee are urging House leaders to bring the Broadband Internet Connections for Rural America Act to the floor for a vote.

Chairman David Scott and Ranking member Glenn G.T. Thompson say the bill, which passed out of committee July 14th with unanimous support, will give the USDA more than $43-Billion dollars to expand rural broadband.

They say no agency has deeper roots in rural America than USDA and nor the unique expertise and experience USDA has to get the job done.

Scott and Thompson say the bill includes the best of the USDA’s ReConnect program and the farm bill authorized Rural Broadband Program to create the ReConnect Rural Broadband Program.
