Watch Olympic gymnast Suni Lee's family celebrate her gold medal in heartwarming videos

Videos of Suni Lee’s family reacting to the gymnast winning a gold medal in the Olympics all-around competition went viral on Twitter this week, with fellow Olympians, celebrities and viewers at home cheering alongside Lee's family.

“Golden reaction for a golden moment,” NBC’s Olympics account tweeted on Thursday, alongside video of a crowded room of Lee’s family and friends watching her finish in first place at the Tokyo Games.

Lee’s family can be seen screaming, embracing and chanting “USA! USA!” They watched her compete from Minnesota after spectators were banned from the Games amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Lee on Thursday became the fifth consecutive American woman, and the sixth overall, to be awarded the Olympic all-around title. The electric moment came after the United States’ women’s gymnastics team won the silver medal at Tokyo’s team gymnastics competition.

Lee responded to the footage, which has received millions of views, on Thursday, calling her loved ones “the people i do it all for.”

“I LOVE YOU ALL,” she shared.

Olympic gymnast Alexandra Raisman also shared footage of Lee’s family on Twitter from KARE 11 anchor Gia Vang. Raisman called it “a special moment.”

“Wish they could be with @sunisalee_ in person,” Raisman wrote.

The Olympics and the USA Gymnastics governing organization also celebrated the video, alongside celebrities and other Twitter users.

John Lee, Suni Lee’s father, told the TODAY show after her victory that their family was holding their breath as she competed.

“There’s no words that can express this right now,” Lee said.

“I don’t think she can have any words to to express, either,” Lee added. “I could see in her eyes that she was crying.”
